About Me

I’m a homeschooling papa who is passionate about supporting parents with diaper free. I began my journey with diaper free in 2011 when my son was born. I enjoyed the increased bonding and connection that this created between my son and I. Since then I have trained as a certified Diaper Free Coach and am excited to support other parents on their journey.

Serving Victoria BC and surrounding areas.

COACH Q&A

My experiences with Elimination Communication

When did you first learn about EC? What did you think? What did you do about it?

I first heard about EC when my wife was pregnant with our son, over 6 years ago!, and I was excited. I loved the concept, especially the idea of becoming more attuned to my son’s needs and communication.

What does it mean for you to teach EC?

I love that I have the opportunity now to help other parents reach their EC goals and become more empowered and confident with the practice.

What is your favorite piece of EC gear or clothing?

The diaper belt rocks. It worked great for my wife and I as a cheap and easy cloth diapering system with a prefold and it made diaper-free time easy.

What book has inspired you the most on the path to becoming a more empowered father?

There were many books on my early parenting journey that truly inspired … Parenting for Peace by Marcy Axness, Parents Tao Te Ching by William Martin, Go Diaper Free by Andrea Olson, The Attachment Parenting Book by William Sears, Sleeping with Your Baby by James McKenna … and probably many more that I cannot remember now :).

What would you tell someone who is thinking of trying EC for the first time?

Take the plunge! Learn, read, get support … EC is flexible and can work with any lifestyle … at its core it just about becoming aware of your child’s communication and natural timing … and as you become more aware you can simply start redirecting pees and poos into a receptacle other than the diaper … it is all about helping your child remain aware of their own elimination signals and helping them slowly become comfortable with the potty and toilet so that one day they will be potty masters and free from diapers!
